“Into the Woods” Milky White Cow

Project type

Carpentry

Date

June 2026

Location

Cape Cod, MA

My favorite project thus far this summer - I created Milky White (the star of the show) by gluing and stapling 3/4” plywood, 1” wood, and bendy plywood. Many 1” supports were needed to create the interior skeleton as the cow is pushed over during the show and lands harshly on his head/upper back (RIP Milky White). The cow was then filled with joint compound over the staples and sanded. Additional supports were added after the third death using 2x4” wood screwed in which was then covered by joint compound and sanded once again. The cow has an opening where his mouth is so the actors can feed him the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, and the slipper as pure as gold. There is also a hatch on the top of his back made of bendy ply and magnets so stage management can remove these items easily. Paint treatment was done by another artist. I also made the platform using 3/4” plywood and 1” wood.
