“Driving Miss Daisy” Tombstone

Tombstone created using styrofoam, paint, palm sander, and fake leaves. ‘Werthan’ is hand lettered - no stencil used. The letters were carved using a variety of methods. At first, I tried a dremel but that was too harsh and difficult to control. Next, I tried a hot glue gun which worked well at first, but the tools quickly became too hot and melted too much of the material. Finally, I settled on using a slightly cooled down wood burning tool (learning from my hot glue gun mistakes) and cleaning up the edges with an exacto knife. Next, I palm sanded and painted/sponged the entire canvas before adding ‘moss’ details to the letters and corners. Lastly, I hot glued fake vines around the edges.
